Google tweaked for iPhone E-mail

Google has revamped its home page to optimise access via an iPhone.

When an iPhone user visits www.google.com, the device is automatically detected and Google delivers a special version of the home page featuring quick access to Gmail, Calendar and Reader, as well as auto-completed suggestions for the search box.

A link on the home page provides the option of using the classic Google home page instead.

A Google spokesperson said the site uses AJAX and other technologies to deliver an excellent mobile experience.

According to some reports (eg, CNet ) links on the iPhone-specific home page open instantaneously.

"We are working to develop new mobile technologies that are faster, easier to use, and available on more devices," company officials said.
