Page 1 of 2 Continuing their incredibly popularity, boosted by recent titles such as Metroid Prime 3 and the new mega hit, Super Mario Galaxy, Nintendo are reportedly making 1.8 million Wii’s a month and selling every single one of them. Nintendo have reported that during the Thanksgiving ‘Black Friday’ week, famed for being the week that sees retailers start getting ‘into the black’, or into profits (and out of the losses which are marked in red), that sales went sky high, selling more Nintendo units at one time than ever sold before. The handheld Nintendo DS is still mega popular, selling 653,000 units, while the Wii sold a massive 350,000 consoles during Thanksgiving, no doubt causing Nintendo to wish many thanks to all their new customers as Wii sales topped the charts for the highest single amount in the US ever. George Harrison, the senior VP of Marketing and Corporate Comms at Nintendo America said in a statement that: "As shoppers look for ways to maximize their limited holiday spending money, they turn to gifts that can be used by the entire family. Wii and Nintendo DS offer something for every member of the family. They're the most fun video game experiences at the most affordable price."
