Changes specific to the server version include fixes for Server Preferences, NetBoot, Open Directory, and SMB File Service. Mac OS X 10.4.11 delivers new features as well as bug fixes. The highlight is Safari 3, previously only available in beta form or as part of Leopard. RAW image support has been expanded to include additional cameras from Panasonic, Leica, Olympus and Canon, Microsoft's Bluetooth Presenter Mouse 8000 is supported, and the special keys on aluminium keyboards can be used to control Aperture slideshows. Compatibility and reliability fixes relating to OpenType and QuarkXPress, VMware Fusion, third-party wireless WAN devices, and external USB hard drives are included, along with fixes for several networking and Dashboard widget issues. 10.4.11 includes recent security updates and updated daylight savings information for Australia, New Zealand and Indiana (US). The update is available in incremental and combo versions, and in Intel, PowerPC and Universal form. Sizes range from 68M to 322M. It's probably simplest to use Software Update to update a small number of machines, or to download the Universal combo update for a mixed fleet. A separate package of Server Admin Tools for Mac OS X 10.4.11 was released alongside the operating system updates. |
