5 Best Practices for Smartphone Support
Ubisoft is inviting people to take on the role of an assassin in this mind blowing, third person action adventure game where your character can literally go anywhere, climb anything, do anything! The game takes place in the year 1911 during the Third Crusade and players assume the role of Altair - which in Arabic means ‘The Flying One’ - an assassin feared for his ruthlessness. Altair is a member of the Hashshashin (the original ‘assassins’), a group whose objective is to slay the nine historical figures who are propagating the Crusades. Players travel through three cities – Jerusalmen, Acre and Damascus – and as they find and kill their targets, the conspiracy of these historic leaders is unveiled. Operating in a completely interactive environment, using real next-generation technology, the way in which a player controls Altair affects how other characters within the game react in his presence. For instance, when going through a crowd, if the player gently moves a by-standing character out of their path, there will be no significant affect. However, if the player throws another character to the ground and kills them, the crowd may unite against the player, leaving Altair to find a way of escape. Also on show at the Ubisoft stand will be the newly released ‘Haze’, a first-person, shooter video game which is set in a fictional future, with the game’s story taking place over a three day period in the year 2048. In this world, no UN or NATO forces exist, as they have been superseded by a private military company called Mantel Global Industries (MGI). Mantel Global Industries is also a multinational corporation which specialises in bio-medicine and has developed a nutritional supplement called Nectar…which, as the game progresses, appears to be a performance enhancing drug that gives the user greater speed, accuracy and strength – and in the hands of the enemy, can be lethal. Game players assume the role of Sergeant Shane Carpenter, a soldier in the MGI army and as Carpenter, fight rebels in South America in a war between the rebels and the MGI army which began in 2032. Shane and his army battle against a guerrilla group, known as ‘The Promise Hand’, which is led by dictator Gabriel ‘Skin Coat’ Merino, a brutal man who wears the flayed skins of his POW camp inmates. The rock band, ‘Korn’ has written and recorded an original song, also called ‘Haze’ for the game’s soundtrack. The song will be released in November to coincide with the game’s release. In what is a first for the video games industry, ‘Haze’ will be released and promoted as a fully-fledged single and music video, not just as an exclusive download available with the video game. The Expo takes place at the Melbourne Exhibition centre, opening hours are Friday 16 November, 12pm to 6pm, Saturday 17 November, 10am to 6pm and Sunday 18 November, 10am to 5pm.
