NASA's space shuttle Atlantis has arrived at its launch pad at Kennedy Space Center.

The giant crawler-transporter delivered the spacecraft to pad shortly before noon on Saturday.

Atlaantis's STS-122 mission is scheduled for launch on December 8, with a dress rehearsal on November 18-22.

The major tasks for STS-122 are the delivery of the ESA's Columbus laboratory to the International Space Station along with European astronaut Léopold Eyharts, and the return to Earth of Expedition 16 flight engineer Daniel Tani.

The current space station crew have been working to relocate the Harmony module to its permanent location. Columbus will be attached to Harmony when it reaches the ISS.
