Australia first million cellphone month |

For the first time, in October, cellphone sales in Australia exceeded one million in a single month.
According to official industry figures produced by Informark, there were 1,493,890 shipments in October 2007, a rise of 46.6 percent over the previous highest month, October 2006 with 982,040 shipments.
The Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association AMTA, commented: "it would appear from the figures that the mobile telecommunications industry is stocking up for a bumper Christmas sales period. The shipment figures are on track to break last year’s record of 8.735 million for the 12 months to December 2006. The shipments to October this year are 7.585 million compared to last year’s 7.184 million."{moscomment}
