Citing figures from Internet survey agency, Nielsen NetRatings, Internode claims it was the most popular Australian gaming web site during September, with more than 375,000 unique visitors - two thirds of them from overseas.

"In the past year, the Internode Games Network has more than doubled in both international and domestic popularity. Last weekend alone, the network had more than 15,000 downloads of a recently released major game demo it is hosting – a massive exercise as the download is 1.77 gigabytes in size!," the company said.

Richard Burke, who is responsible for content creation on the Internode Games Network, said traffic had "way more than doubled" on the network in the past year," adding: "Gamers love it because the network's performance rocks, especially Internode customers as the files they download are unmetered." The most popular games at the Internode Games Network are: Team Fortress 2; Counter-Strike: Source; Battlefield 2; Battlefield 2142; Counter-Strike.

"On top of our online gaming activity, our Internet Radio service is growing in popularity. Use peaks at about 450 concurrent listeners - oddly enough in the middle of the day when people are at work," Burke said.

Launched in mid-2002, the network supports online interactive games, legally downloadable games and demonstration versions of popular new titles along with swap hints and information about online gaming. These are provided from servers in SA, NSW, WA and Queensland, and Internode says the network is "one of the largest and most distributed game network services in Australia."{moscomment}
