Perth-based ISP Datafast Telecommunications Ltd (ASX:DFT) has launched a long-distance VoIP telephony product which enables customers to make STD, IDD, and calls to mobiles using existing telephone equipment.

CEO Simon Ehrenfeld said the product called Speak will be operational by 1 July 2005.

“Because of our large national customer base, Speak will add a substantial number of accounts at an extremely low cost of acquisition. Preliminary surveys have indicated a strong take-up rate,” he said. “Speak will also generate a higher degree of loyalty and significant additional revenue from existing customers. There are all of the advantages of having one provider for both voice and Internet. Bundling is a rapidly growing consumer trend.”

Datafast has experience VoIP business through its Flatworld service (www.flatworld.com.au). Using the Speak platform, it is says it is developing a solution to take VoIP to the next level of usability.
