iJailBreak simplifies iPod touch jailbreaking E-mail

While other people worked out how to open the iPod touch to third-party applications, a 13 year old has taken the trouble to package the method in an automated application.

iJailBreak has been released under the GPL by its developer 'AriX'. At this stage it requires an Intel-based Mac.

iJailBreak relies on the TIFF exploit disclosed by 'Niacin' and 'Dre', so it will most likely stop working as soon as Apple releases a security update for the iPod touch.

The exploit uses a deliberately malformed TIFF file to trick the iPod into executing code contained within the file. Similar exploits have been discovered for Windows and Mac OS X.

Looking for an automated jailbreak that runs on Windows? 'Msbasher' may have what you're looking for in the form of the One Click iPod Touch Jailbreak.

While the developers of these tools may provide some assistance, iPod touch owners are essentially on their own if anything goes wrong during the jailbreak process.
