Adobe has released a patch for PageMaker 7.0.1 and 7.0.2 to fix a critical vulnerability that could allow an attacker to take over the system.
The issue, which only affects the Windows version of the well-known desktop publishing program, is not remotely exploitable, Adobe officials said.
According to Secunia, a buffer overflow can be triggered by a maliciously crafted PMD file containing an overly long font name.
In these days of multi-megabyte patches, it is refreshing to see that the PageMaker update is delivered in the form of a 36K .zip file. The patch is available from Adobe's web site.
