Gotalk's latest: mobile calls sans flagfall, and flexi-capped plans E-mail

Gotalk has launched two new ranges of mobile service plans: Free Connect, where there is no flagfall charge on calls, and Flexi-caps where the full monthly fee is not charged until usage passes a $15 threshold.

There are four Free Connect plans with minimum monthly charges of $0, 5, 10 and 15, but this fee includes calls at the applicable rate up to that value or, in the case of Free Connect 15, to $30. Per second rates on the plans are, respectively 47, 40, 35 and 31 cents.

Gotalk CEO, Steve Picton said: "The new gotalk plans are aimed at the mainstream consumer market...These plans are perfect for people who use their mobiles for numerous short calls, or for those that keep a mobile 'just-in-case'."

The capped plans are Flexi Cap, 20, 25, 45 and 75 and offer calls the value of $60, 100, 250 and 500 per month respectively with 30 cent flagfall and 35 cents per 30 seconds.. However a fee of only $15 is charged unless the customer racks up $15 worth of calls at these rates in the month. Gotalk has previously offered flexible billing on two of its mobile caps, but has now extended it across its full range of mobile caps.

According to Picton, "For the first time gotalk is including international calls & texting in its eligible call types, without limiting the value of the cap customers can use on international calling & texting." He added: "Neither Vodafone or Optus include international calls in their mobile caps – customers have to pay extra for any international calls they make."{moscomment}
