Another benefit is that the drive is less susceptible to mechanical damage when the platter is not spinning and the heads are locked in place. Performance improvements in normal use are realised with Vista's ReadyDrive technology, which moves commonly used data into the flash memory. "We're thrilled Seagate is bringing to market hybrid hard drives that take full advantage of Windows Vista," said Dennis Moulton, product manager of Windows Client marketing at Microsoft. The Momentus 5400 PSD is a SATA device available in 80, 120 and 160G versions. Like other Seagate drives, it comes with a five-year warranty. |
