Tandberg has completed its $US270 million acquisition of UK-based Codian, a developer of high-definition videoconferencing products.

"I am enthused about the value of bringing together Codian's talent with our own team to work on future opportunities," said Tandberg CEO Fredrik Halvorsen. "In addition, our company gains valuable high-definition videoconferencing infrastructure products and solutions."

Tandberg will continue to develop and support its own product lines as well as Codian's, company officials said.

Codian recently demonstrated 1080p videoconferencing using an MCU 4500 Series voice and video bridge. This product family received the 2007 Global Frost & Sullivan Award for the best new videoconferencing infrastructure product.

"Codian has taken the power, versatility, and design of a videoconferencing MCU to a new level," said research analyst Roopam Jain. "In recent quarters, the company has seen significant success for its videoconferencing products in a market that is highly competitive."
