A new version of EyeTV's well-regarded EyeTV software delivers a stack of new and improved features, including improved support for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch.

EyeTV 2.5 offers one-click export settings to suit the iPhone and iPod touch, plus a built-in web server that either device can access via Wi-Fi to browse the EyeTV library and play back videos.

If you don't own one of Apple's latest devices, there's still something in the new version for you.

Ever wished you were recording the program you're watching? EyeTV 2.5 provides the flexibility to rewind the the timeshift (timeslip) buffer and then begin recording from there.

Talking of timeshifting, version 2.5 handles timeshifting with analogue tuners that lack hardware compression.

Like to watch while you work? The video window can now be set to float above all others, whether you are watching live or recorded material. The existing picture-in-picture functionality still works in this mode.

While H.264 HD playback still requires a Core 2 Duo (or better) processor, EyeTV 2.5's performance has been improved in this regard.

French users who also have a Freebox IPTV set-top box may welcome EyeTV's new ability to receive content streamed over the LAN from the Freebox, although this feature is only provided with retail licences or those accompanying Elgato's own hardware.

EyeTV 2.5 is a free upgrade for existing owners. It can be downloaded from Elgato's web site.

New licences cost €79.95/$US79.95/$A99.95. Mac OS X 10.4 is required.
