OLPC: buy one, give another E-mail

The One Laptop Per Child project is giving people in North America a chance to buy one of its systems and simultaneously donate a second to a child in a developing nation.

This program will run for a limited time, beginning November 12. $US399 buys two XO laptops, one of which will be delivered to the purchaser.

According to an AP report, that "limited time" will be two weeks - partly to comply with tax laws, but more to generate a sense of scarcity. Only 25,000 purchasers will receive their laptops in time for Christmas.

Alternatively, a straightforward donation of $US200 gets an XO into the hands of a child somewhere in the developing world.

Sign up for an email reminder about the 'Give 1 Get 1' program at www.xogiving.org. Donations can be made via the same page.
