Exinda Networks Introduces Its Second Generation Application Acceleration Solutions PDF E-mail
Monday, 24 September 2007
Exinda Networks, the leading provider of Unified Performance Management (UPM) solutions, today launched its second generation application acceleration solutions for its x800 product family.  The new products are easier to install and accelerate mission critical applications on corporate networks more efficiently and at higher speeds.

With a steep increase in the number of corporate applications and employees’ growing reliance on Web services to conduct business, solving poor application performance has emerged as a top challenge for network managers.  Exinda's new x800 appliances solve applications performance problems by accelerating critical applications, eliminating redundant data and prioritising network traffic traversing the wide area network (WAN).

The x800 products are part of Exinda’s UPM solutions that combine WAN optimisation, application acceleration, application visibility and application response measurement onto a single appliance to achieve predictable application performance. New features of the products include:

Auto discovery

A new hybrid caching capability

Application acceleration up to 155 Megabits/second (Mbps.) bi-directionally

A new acceleration module for HTTP traffic.

The auto discovery feature simplifies the appliance installation by eliminating time consuming, complex configurations.  Network managers can simply plug in the intelligent appliance and all devices in the network auto discover each other, an important step for accelerating applications between corporate locations.  With the new products, broad scale application acceleration projects are easier to tackle because little training and minimal IT resources are required.

The new hybrid WAN Memory, which stores redundant data traversing the WAN, caches full data streams instead of individual packets.  This type of caching algorithm is more efficient, improves application response times and reduces WAN traffic for large file data replication, server consolidation projects and global access to centralised data.  With hybrid WAN Memory, Exinda has doubled its caching capacity providing significantly improved application performance to end users.

The second generation x800 products can now accelerate applications at 155 Mbps., seven times faster than its previous TCP acceleration rates.  This capability is important for accelerating critical applications travelling on the largest, fastest links of a corporate WAN.

The new products also include a module for accelerating HTTP traffic at higher speeds.  HTTP traffic includes all Web-based services centrally housed in the corporate data center such as CRM, ERP, SAP, Siebel and SharePoint.  The new HTTP acceleration module keeps employees productive by providing faster access to Web-based services.

“Optimising and accelerating applications may seem like an arduous task to some organisations,” said Con Nikolouzakis, chief executive officer of Exinda.  “However, our next generation x800 products further simplify that task.  Customer feedback helped us to develop the new features that make the appliances easier to use. The next generation products demonstrate our commitment to deliver integrated solutions that are easy to use, affordable and highly effective at tackling application performance problems.”

Pricing and Availability

Exinda’s x800 second generation products family includes the 2800 appliance, the 4800 appliance and 6800 appliance with prices, excluding GST, starting at ($3,000, $6,990 and $20,990 respectively.  The second generation x800 products will be available in the fourth quarter of 2007.  Exinda’s x800 customers with current maintenance contracts will be able to download the firmware upgrade for free at http://www.exinda.com/updates/.  Distribution in Australia is via TechPlus.
