Primus upgrades DSLAM backhaul tenfold

Primus Australia says it will boost the transmission capacity of the fibre optic network serving its ADSL DSLAMs in Telstra exchanges by ten fold in response to customer demand for broadband capacity. It is also a vote of confidence in the continued success of Primus in the Australian telecommunications market." Mr Bhatia said. Most of Primus' DSLAM will be connected to the backhaul network using wavelength division multiplexing. According to Primus, this means that the backhaul capacity from each DSLAM will be readily upgradeable to speeds as high as 10Gbps (by activating additional wavelengths in the same fibre).
