Nokia Siemens tackles the digital home with Intel E-mail

Hot on the heels of Microsoft's announcement of planned new products to deliver content stored on a PC to TVs around the home, Nokia Siemens Networks has announced plans to work with Intel towards the same goal.
However the announcement was short on detail. The two companies say they are "cooperating closely to add attractive new digital home networking features to Nokia Siemens Networks' end-to-end solution for IPTV" and that "use of UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) and DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) standards for home networking will enable consumers to share their favourite pictures, videos and other PC-based content with all the TV sets in the household."

They go on to say that "some of these comfort features of the IPTV solution are enabled by the Intel Viiv processor technology, Intel's premier brand for consumer PCs designed for digital entertainment" and that "thanks to the new digital home networking features of Nokia Siemens Networks' IPTV solution, users can share their favourite content from their private PCs with all the TV sets in the household via the set-top box. The IPTV set-top box thus becomes the best way to watch a slide show stored on a PC, for example. Thanks to Intel Smart Streaming Technology, users can also use their TV set to enjoy videos stored on their PCs."

All rather vague. No doubt more will be revealed in the fullness of time.{moscomment}
