All Mini models will be equipped with an iPhone-compatible interface, BMW has announced.

BMW previously offered iPhone support via Bluetooth and USB on 3 and 5 Series (beginning with March 2007 production), X5 (April 2007) and 6 Series (September 07) cars for the North American market. Along with the Mini, the 1 series has now also been added to the list.

With the forthcoming European launch of the iPhone, BMW will present the iPhone-equipped vehicles at the Frankfurt Auto Show on September 13.

BMW was one of the first car makers to offer integrated iPod support, allowing the music player to be operated from the car's radio, steering wheel buttons or iDrive controller. Playlist, track and artist information is displayed on the car's monitor or radio display.

The company also offers Bluetooth connectivity for mobile phones (including the iPhone) with support for handsfree operation via the steering wheel buttons, iDrive or voice control.
