iToner brings custom ringtones to unhacked Phones E-mail
by Stephen Withers
Monday, 03 September 2007
Ambrosia Software's $US15 iToner makes it easy to install custom ringtones on an unmodified iPhone.

While Apple's iPhone supports multiple ringtones, there is no provision for owners to add arbitrary sound files for that purpose.

iToner provides a drag-and-drop interface for transferring MP3 or AAC audio files from a Mac to an iPhone. There's no provision for editing audio files or for selecting a particular section for use as the ringtone, but there are plenty of applications usable for that chore, including QuickTime Player (not the nicest user interface for the purpose, but hey, it's free).

"[Y]our ringtones will continue to work with future uPhone OS updates!" claims Ambrosia.

iToner requires Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later.
