Opera has upgraded its cellphone web browser, Opera Mini, and says the BlackBerry version has several exclusive optimisations including a new user interface and menus.

"We want to make Opera Mini available to even more users, so we've improved our support for BlackBerry," said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO of Opera.

For all users, Opera Mini 4, available in beta, adds "some often-requested features that improve usability and enjoyment," Opera says. A new 'Landscape mode' gives a wider view of the page. A new multi-search Start Page makes searching easier while on the go. The ability to add the users' preferred search engine to the Start Page, a feature pioneered in Opera's desktop browser, is now available in the latest beta of Opera Mini.

The new beta version of Opera Mini 4.0 is now available for free download at http://www.operamini.com/beta/ .{moscomment}
