New Fujitsu laptop has inbuilt HSDPA modem E-mail

Fujitsu has released in Australia a new version of its Q2010 laptop with an inbuilt 3G phone and HSDPA modem.

The latest version of the Q2010 incorporates a Sierra Wireless MC8755V PCI Express Mini Card module able to deliver downloads at up to 1.8Mbps subject to network support and support voice and SMS over 3G and GSM networks. The product is claimed to be the first in the world to incorporate dual digital array microphones

The device is presently supported on the Optus, Vodafone and Hutchison 3 HSPDA networks all of which operate at 2100MHZ but not on Telstra's Next G network which operates at 850MHz. However it will operate on Edge and GPRS networks at in the 850, 900, 1800, and 1900MHz at up to 216Kbps downstream.

A Fujitsu spokesman said a version for Next G would be coming out, but could give no indication of the timeframe.{moscomment}
