The OptiPlex 755 desktop PC is Dell's most energy-efficient to date, with Energy Star 4.0 compliance and "power settings that can help lower energy costs by up to 78 percent," company officials claimed.

The PC is also designed to be suited to remote management, with support for tools from various vendors (including Dell's own Client Manager) that allow centralised hardware and software management even if the computer is powered down or has no installed operating system.

This is claimed to reduce the time spent deploying patches by up to 94 percent and to reduce the number of desk-side service visits by up to 56 percent.

"When desk-side visits are necessary, the number of steps required to remove and replace components on OptiPlex systems can be up to half that of similar Hewlett Packard desktops," Dell officials said.

Prices start at $A769/$US632.
