Warner Home Video announced today that the Frank Miller comic book adaptation movie 300 has become the fastest selling Hi-Def movie to date.

TVPredictions .com has reported that 250,000 copies of the Spartan war movie 300 have gone home to HD DVD and Blu-ray player domiciles in one week.

According to the distribution studio Warner this tips the previous record holder, The Departed which was first to break the 100,000 high-def disc sales mark.

"300’ is an amazing film, and the High Definition sales we are seeing underscores the positive business benefits of supporting both HD DVD and Blu-ray,” said Ron Sanders, president of Warner Home Video. “This phenomenal response to 300 is the latest proof that our approach makes the most sense in today’s market and has enabled Warner Home Video to continue to lead the market in high definition sales.”

For those following the high-def disc war, unfortunately Warner did not disclose what ratio of HD DVD to Blu-ray discs had been snapped up.
