Rockstar Games appeal Manhunt 2 ban in UK E-mail
by Mike Bantick
Thursday, 02 August 2007
Developers Rockstar Games has confirmed the filing of an official appeal against the BBFC ban of their game Manhunt 2

Two months ago the BBFC rejected the game giving Rockstar six weeks to consider an appeal or reapplication based on cuts made to the game.

Sounds like Rockstar want to get Manhunt 2 onto UK store shelves as it is though – A spokesman told GamesIndustry.biz: "Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. confirmed today that Rockstar Games has appealed the BBFC decision that prohibited the release of any version of Manhunt 2 in Britain."

Manhunt 2 is a follow-up to the extremely violent but quite a sales hit Manhunt, which itself was banned in many regions.

If Rockstar is – or possibly even if not – successful there may be a similar appeal in the US in an attempt to overrule the AO rating given in that market.
