Barker has more than 25 years’ experience in the IT industry, with indepth insight and knowledge in account and channel management, customer support as well as training and consulting. Prior to joining Cognos, Barker was the national sales manager and part owner of B4 Global, a software distributor, where she managed the sales pipeline and generated profitable leads. Prior to this, Barker was in the information management sector overlooking the tendering process for new business at Computer Associates. Barker started as programmer and database analyst before she advanced her sales career at Databank NZ, Platinum Technology, Ardent Software, and Vignette Australia. At Vignette, Barker helped develop the web content management company’s foothold in the IT and financial services sector in NSW. For Ardent, she grew the new data warehousing division significantly in three states before the database vendor was acquired by Informix Software. Commenting on the new appointment, Lesley French, Vice President for Cognos in Australia and New Zealand, said, "Barker’s impressive sales record and her in-depth knowledge of user requirements will help Cognos’ growth in the lucrative Australian retail, wholesale, distribution and services markets.
