Finally, PlayStation 3 sales top 1 million sales in home-ground Japan
Much dancing in the Sony camp this week as the last territory to do so, Japan, tops 1 million sales.

According to Enterbrain’s data as of 15th of July 1.01 million PS3’s had made there way into Japanese homes, this after eight months in the market.  In comparison it took Nintendo Wii only a quarter of this.

PS3 is making some headway in the software markets as well with games such as Ninja Gaiden Sigma showing strong sales surrounded by Wii and DS games.

Looks like the Sony flag-ship device is slowly building a head of steam, but it is unlikely to surpass the Wii in the near future.  In Japan during June the Wii sold 6 units (270,974) for every 1 PS3 (41,628) with the Xbox 360 binging up the rear at 17,616 units sold.
