Being developed by Neversoft, Guitar Hero III will ultimately be competing with the likes of Harmonix’s (original Guitar Hero developer) Rock Band. Accordingly Activision have stated that a multiplayer action-inspired battle mode and a bunch of unlockable and downloadable content will be a focus of this release. Activision were anxious to point out that they are getting into bed with the major labels ; "all the major and independent record labels and music publishers to allow unrivaled access to their deep history of music catalogs."
