Linksys has introduced a sub $250 cordless phone for use with either Skype or with a standard analogue phone line.

The iPhone Dual-Mode Internet Telephony Kit with Skype (CIT400) (Cisco and Apple agreed to share the trademark earlier this year following a legal challenge to Apple from Cisco, which had owned the name for several years)  allows users to choose to make calls via Skype over the Internet without the need for a computer, or to place normal telephone calls over an existing standard telephone line, from the same handset.

The unit connects to the Internet via the user's broadband modem and ethernet. The user's Skype phone book is accessible on the screen of the handset which also supports call waiting and Skype's optional voicemail service. The user's remaining SkypeOut credit is also visible. Up to four handsets can be supported from a single base station, and the Skype client software driving the device updates automatically. It is on sale for a retail price of $239.95.{moscomment}
