Eighties classic Missile Command has been given a 21st century facelift for the Xbox 360.

Ported by Stainless Games for Atari, Missile Command debuts on Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday, July 4.

Features include two-player mode, Dolby 5,1 surround sound and HD 1080i video. Both 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios are supported.

The game can be played with the original style graphics, or you can opt for a more modern, rendered look. It also includes the 'Throttle Monkey' high-speed mode as seen in other Atari games for Xbox Live.

The usual Xbox Live features are included, such as player profiles, leaderboards and achievements.

Bear in mind that Missile Command is one of those games that cries out for a trackball rather than a conventional console controller.

Missile Command costs 400 Microsoft Points ($US5).
