That's Set to Wii, 6 to 1 against PS3 in Japan E-mail

In May the figures were grim for Sony, with the Nintendo Wii out selling the PlayStation 3 five units for every one.  For June it is six to one!

Continuing to power on, Nintendo's biggest worry in this game console war is supplying the demand for the little white box-o-fun the Wii.  In Japan this past June this translated to an unprecedented sales domination of the market.

For June, Nintendo watched 270,974 eager consumers grab a Wii, overshadowing its nearest rival the Sony PS3 by a ratio of 6 to 1.  41,628 PS3's made their way into Japanese homes.

Meanwhile, the continued low sales of the Microsoft Xbox 360 (17,616 for May) showed the cultural differences at the brand and games level in this multi-billion doller market.  Apart from Blue Dragon , the Xbox 360 does not produce the types of games traditionally big sellers in the Japanese market.  Specifically styled RPG's and big robots are the general top of the sales table titles here.

It is an important market that continues to show that the faith invested by Nintendo in innovative design and features has overcome its more technologically proficient competitors for now.
