Continuing its policy of encouraging collaboration between groups of companies operating in particular ICT segments, the government of Victoria has providing startup funding for Spatial Victoria.

"The companies comprising this new cluster are already working well together, but this funding from the Bracks Government will help them take the step up to the next level," said Tim Holding, Information and Communication Technology Minister. "Working co-operatively in a cluster environment will provide both strength in numbers and credibility in national and international dealings for the Victorian companies involved," "This is another niche area in which Victoria can develop its ICT capabilities and compete on the world stage," he added. The Victorian spatial information industry comprises more than 220 businesses with a combined annual turnover in excess of $410 million. The initial members of the cluster are: AAM Hatch CTL Fugro Spatial Solutions Geomatic Technologies Qasco Victoria Sinclair Knight Merz Spatial Vision Innovation Workforce Solutions The Victorian government is also providing $10,000 sponsorship for the Victorian Spatial Excellence Awards 2007 being held in Melbourne on September 18.{moscomment} |
