Apple releases Mac OS X 10.4.10 E-mail

As predicted by popular Mac rumour sites, Apple has released Mac OS X 10.4.10, the ultimate update for Tiger. Or maybe penultimate, as there's still a few months before Leopard arrives.

Apple's release notes point out a variety of improvements.

Peripheral-related changes include RAW image support for certain Panasonic, Leica, Fuji, Nikon and Canon cameras; improved reliability when mounting external USB hard drives; correction of an issue that could prevent a TomTom GO 910 being recognised by an Intel-based Mac; improved reliability of the Apple Remote after waking from sleep; a fix for a specific cause of dropped frames when importing video from a DV camera; and corrected handling of Bluetooth headsets when removed from Bluetooth preferences.

Application-specific fixes apply to Mathematica 6 (on 64-bit Macs) and Motion.

Miscellaneous fixes cover corrections to calendar calculations and decimal rounding, correctly displaying certain DNG images, and improved responsiveness when using the Control-Eject key combination to display a shutdown dialog.

In addition to rolling up previous security updates, 10.4.10 includes a fix for an issue in the IPv6 protocol. Support for IPv6 type 0 routing headers has been disabled to prevent maliciously crafted packets causing a reduction in network bandwidth.{moscomment}
