Sybase 365 Enables Aircel to Extend Global Text Messaging Capabilities |

Sybase 365™, a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), the global leader in the delivery and settlement of messaging interoperability as well as the management and distribution of mobile content, today announced that it has been selected by Aircel Ltd., a subsidiary of Malaysia’s Maxis Communications Berhad, the leading mobile operator in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, to offer International Short Message Service (ISMS) connectivity to over four million of its mobile subscribers. Aircel subscribers can now communicate via SMS with business contacts, family, and friends throughout South Asia, and across the world.

This agreement broadens Sybase 365’s unrivalled global coverage, which spans more than 700 mobile operators, reaching more than 1.7 billion mobile subscribers. With the addition of Aircel, Sybase 365 now provides two-way interoperability services to more than 90 per cent, or 110 million South Asian mobile subscribers across Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
