Nintendo continue to ride a wave of financial success down-under as across the world.  We also get a release date for Resident Evil 4 Wii edition.

Nintendo are chuffed in Australia at the moment as the Wii breaks through the 100,000 sales barrier; “We are pleased that Wii has achieved this benchmark, but we are ecstatic that it attained this whilst also reaching new audiences and expanding the scope of our entire industry” explains Rose Lappin, Director of Sales and Marketing. “We promised we would bring gaming to the masses, I think this is proof that we are heading in the right direction”

Lappin puts this sales success specifically on the packaged offering of the Wii games console with the popular Wii Sports; “Wii Sports is still performing very well as a primary vehicle to encourage non-gamers towards trying out the Wii experience” says Lappin.

Meanwhile those thirsting from more mature content, July 5th has been announced as the shelf date for Resident Evil 4 Wii edition.  More over the shoulder zombie hunting for everybody. Yah!

Less specific is the September target date for the long awaited Super Paper Mario and PANGYA! Golf with Style both of which should make good use of the unique Wii-mote controller.
