The web based interface simplifies virtualisation management across multiple platforms, and the new version provides more detailed views of the resources on POWER systems, including discovery of VIOS virtualised resources. A pair of new tools will accompany the release of Systems Director Virtualization Manager 1.2, which is scheduled for the third quarter. IBM Systems Director Virtual Availability Management works with Xen-based virtualization on x86-based environments to create a high availability server farm. IBM officials claim it includes "industry first" technology for the secure live relocation of Xen virtual machines with little to no downtime. IBM Systems Director Virtual Image Management uses a template-based approach to help manage and deploy systems. This new offering will allow customers to easily deploy new virtual servers based on virtual system templates and images. The templates can be used to create, customize and clone virtual images on all supported hypervisors and x86, AMD and POWER-based systems, company official said.{moscomment} |
