“They manifest their understanding of the problem space by providing innovative features and by extending their integration technology to support initiatives such as service oriented architecture and business process management.” “We consider our placement in this report to be important in positioning Sterling Commerce as a vendor to watch in the back-end application integration arena, with a unique and compelling vision for business-to-business (B2B) integration strategies for our customers,” said Eric Meerschaert, vice president of global marketing for Sterling Commerce. “But, more importantly, we believe it confirms the efforts we’ve made to provide application development tools and integration technology that drive customer innovation to quickly and accurately share critical information with their customers and partners throughout the world.“ Gartner adds: “The ability to execute in the application infrastructure for back-end application integration usage scenario primarily reflects maturity and completeness of the product offering, reasonably affordable costs and the presence of a sizeable customer base reporting good experience with the vendor's integration technology. Vendors' responsiveness in reacting to market trends, ability to communicate a sensible value proposition and effectiveness in supporting customers with a proper organisation are also important factors, although not more than for other markets.” Sterling Commerce back-end application integration solutions include Gentran Integration Suite and Sterling Collaboration Network. Gentran Integration Suite, a flexible integration platform, enables its customers to extend processes to customers, partners and suppliers while maximising existing and future IT systems and technologies and maintaining compliance with applicable governmental and industry mandates. It provides end-to-end visibility and automation of core business processes that improve margins and create additional efficiency opportunities. “With these solutions, our more than 30,000 customers continue to expand and increase the sophistication of their integration capabilities,” Meerschaert said. “In return, their operational efficiency improves; their reputation and profitability is protected; and they are able to exploit new opportunities and grow their business.” About the Gartner Magic Quadrant The Magic Quadrant is copyrighted 2007, by Gartner, Inc. and is reused with permission.
