Woolworths' Big W division is to launch a dedicated website that will allow its customer to rent films and TV series from online DVD rental company, Quickflix.

Under the agreement, Woolworths will also provide in-store advertising and cross promotions with products such as DVD players.

Big W customers will be able to choose from more than 25,000 movies and TV series. The discs will delivered through the post. There are no penalties for late returns: the monthly rental fee, starting at $9.95, determines the number of DVDs that the customer can have on loan at any one time.

Quickflix says its subscriber base has grown by 100 percent in the last 12 months and it now has more than 18,000 customers. It says that, with more than five million householders owning a DVD player and with widespread Internet access, online DVD rental & downloads are expected to account for over 20 percent of all movie rental transactions by 2010.{moscomment}
