Bomberman 93 set to explode onto Wii VC E-mail

Okay, so we are a bit behind the rest of the Wii Virtual Console world, but soon Australian and New Zealand Wii owners will get more retro fun with Bomberman 93 and Bonk’s Adventure.

July 6th is the target date for Nintendo to release Bomberman 93 and Bonk’s Adventure to the Wii Virtual Console.  Both these titles stem from the Turbo-Grafx 16 (PC Engine) console – originally released in 1987.

Bonk’s Adventure is a 2D scrolling platform game in a similar vein to the most iconic Mario titles.  Controlling the main character, a caveboy named Bonk who jumps around the screen ‘bonking’ enemies with his strong Neanderthal forehead.

With the aim of rescuing Princess Za from the evil King Drool, the Mario overtones continue.  It could well be said that perhaps the VC already has an overload of these types of games.

Bomberman 93 however, relives the classic series of Bomberman games with both single and multiplayer options.   Single player sees Bomberman scurrying across seven worlds each consisting of eight stages.

Dropping and kicking bombs to clear stages of enemies is the order of the day with multiplayer adding to the frenzy.

Both games will be available for 600 Wii points each. {moscomment}
