StarCraft 2 announcement gives original a sales boost E-mail

With developer Blizzard announcing the long awaited follow-up to one of strategy gamings all time favourites, StarCraft  is back on the best selling list.

Both Amazon.com and EB Games/GameStop in the US are reporting the resurgence of interest in the 1998 Blizzard game StarCraft.

StarCraft pitted two alien and one human force against each other in an elegantly balanced frenzy of on screen clicking.  Now StarCraft 2 is on the horizon and it seems this is driving a sales blitz for the StarCraft Battle Chest.

The Battle Chest includes the original RTS StarCraft along with the expansion Brood War and two bonus Strategy Guides.  Obviously players are reliving their StarCraft experience, perhaps honing skills for the upcoming sequel release.

Here is the current sales breakdown;

EB Games/GameStop (PC Games)
*  StarCraft Battle Chest
*  Halo 2
*  UFO Extraterrestrials
*  Rise of Nations
*  Freestyle Street Basketball
*  Lord of the Rings Online

Amazon.com (PC Games)
*  1. Nancy Drew: The White Wolf of Icicle Creek
*  2. The Sims 2
*  3. World of Warcaft: The Burning Crusade
*  4. World of Warcraft
*  5. Halo 2
...
*  19. StarCraft Battle Chest {moscomment}
