Ubidays 2007, the showcase of some of the upcoming Ubisoft games has given developer Gearbox a platform to release teasing information about their Aliens FPS (First Person Shooter) based on the James Cameron movie of the same name. Randy Pitchford was on hand at Ubidays 2007 in Paris last week, in this interview with game reactor he talks about the technology behind the up coming Brothers in Arms : Hells Highway game as well as some passing commentary on Gearbox's other big license Aliens. Sega will be publishing the game based on the 20th Century Fox license and is due on "next-gen" platforms in 2009. "Our game's about becoming a Colonial Marine, and looking at it from the Colonial Marines' perspective," explained Pitchford. For those that missed the movie, this means the player will be taking the part of a hard-ass Marine, battling hordes of fast moving deadly xenomorphs. Another bug hunt then. "We're working really hard on that right now," Pitchford said. One license that Gearbox is not currently working on, but soon will be is a title based on the 1995 Michael Mann film Heat: "I've had some meetings with Michael Mann," said Pitchford. "[And] I think there's some room for interactive entertainment to deal with the challenges between cops and robbers." {moscomment} |
