DataViz was quick off the mark with the announcement of a program allowing Palm Foleo users to create, view and edit Microsoft Office documents.

Documents To Go for Palm Foleo is the latest in DataViz's line of software permitting the use of Word, Excel or PowerPoint files on mobile devices while retaining all original file formatting.

DataViz officials said Documents To Go works with the built-in Foleo email application to access a wide variety of attachments, from sales contracts to sports schedules. File access also can be achieved through use of an optional SD card or Bluetooth.

"DataViz is proud to have worked with Palm since the conception of this exciting product venture, as the value proposition when dealing with Microsoft Office attachments is obvious," said Dick Fontanta, president of DataViz. "With the Foleo's 'instant on' approach, full keyboard and Documents To Go, customers can take mobile computing to an entirely new level and dramatically increase personal productivity."

Palm welcomed the announcement: "The capability to view and edit Microsoft Office documents on the Foleo will prove to be a powerful business tool for mobile professionals," said Mark Bercow, senior vice president of business development at Palm.

No price or shipping date was announced. Cut down versions of Documents To Go are bundled with various existing Palm products, but no indication was given whether this practice will continue with the Foleo.{moscomment}
