Toshiba (Australia) Pty. Limited Information Systems Division (ISD) today updated its range of consumer notebooks to include the latest technology for mobile computing in the home, including the new Microsoft Windows Vista™ operating system, Kedron n wireless and a Web camera.
In addition, Toshiba has re-designed the casework of its consumer models, the Satellite series, to incorporate a glossy new finish with larger Toshiba branding on the lid and stylised blue lights on the front panel.  The chassis has also been re-sized to be wider but shorter in length to accommodate for widescreen resolution, and be more comfortable for travellers on airplanes. Toshiba’s Satellite series offers an extensive range of consumer notebooks, from entry-level desktop replacements through to high-end gaming powerhouses.  The Satellite range consists of the Satellite A200 (previously the A100) and the Satellite P200 (previously the P100). The new range includes models that feature a 1.3MP built-in webcam for live video chatting, as well as the latest Intel 802.11n wireless standard, Kendron n wireless, for enhanced wireless connectivity (see below specs for details of which models) .    Toshiba’s Qosmio notebooks, the G30 and F30, are the latest additions to Toshiba’s AV notebook PC series.  As part of this refresh, the Qosmio G30 is the world’s first notebook to offer a HD DVD-R drive for recording data on HD DVD media. Users can now play and burn HD DVDs similar to playing or burning a standard DVD or CD. The Qosmio F30 remains unchanged. “As more and more Australians discover the benefits of notebook computing, we expect notebook PCs to form over half of the Australian personal computer market by 2008,” says Justin White, product manager for Toshiba ISD Australia and New Zealand.  “We are excited to drive this trend by offering Australians the latest in mobile technology for the home at the lowest possible price.” The updated notebooks come pre-loaded with Windows Vista Home / Vista Home Premium and include:  the Satellite A200, Satellite P200 and Qosmio G30.  Satellite A200: 15.4-inch desktop replacement ($1,099 - $2,299 Inc.
