Sybase 365 Launches AvantGo® For BlackBerry® E-mail
Thursday, 10 May 2007
Sydney, 10 May, 2007 – Sybase 365™, a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), the global leader in the delivery and settlement of messaging interoperability as well as the management and distribution of mobile content, today announced the launch of the AvantGo® client for BlackBerry® smart phones, from Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM). BlackBerry users can now access updated, customised content from thousands of mobile Web sites anytime and anywhere – in either an online or offline mode – in a format that is optimised for BlackBerry smart phones.

“We’re excited to expand our relationship with RIM enhancing the BlackBerry user experience and value,” said Marty Beard, president of Sybase 365. “AvantGo for BlackBerry demonstrates our dedication to providing the best in mobile content and extending our platform for mobile advertising.”

AvantGo for BlackBerry caches content locally, providing enhanced navigation, faster browsing and dual online and offline availability. Additionally, AvantGo utilises its patented advanced sync technology, which automatically updates pages on the device giving the user access to the latest news and information around the clock.

"BlackBerry users enjoy their mobile lifestyle and look for software and services that can further simplify or enhance their personal and professional lives. AvantGo complements the BlackBerry solution by enabling access to a wide variety of timely and customised information including breaking news, market updates and entertainment,” said Jeff McDowell, vice president, Global Alliances, Research In Motion.

AvantGo provides media content partners and advertisers with a turnkey, ad-funded mobile distribution solution without the cost of building an initial mobile audience or advertiser network, and provides advertisers with reach into a highly desirable mobile audience. As a result, hundreds of major brands use AvantGo, which in turn provides mobile users access to both quantity and quality of content.

"AvantGo plays an important role in our mobile strategy and is a strong mobile advertising partner,” Stephen Smyth, general manager, Americas for Reuters Media. “We are pleased that their full service is now available for millions of BlackBerry users.”

AvantGo for BlackBerry is available immediately and is free for end-users. BlackBerry users can access and download the client through the BlackBerry browser at www.avantgo.com.

Sybase 365 extends Sybase’s reach to over 700 mobile operators in addition to leading content providers, media companies and large enterprises, making Sybase the largest provider of mobile enterprise software and services in the world. The launch of AvantGo for BlackBerry further demonstrates the company’s commitment to the Unwired Enterprise.
