Australian video download service ReelTime.tv is set to launch operations in New Zealand next week.

ReelTime.tv's New Zealand service www.nz.reeltime.tv will allow users to download movies and TV shows, to rent or own, from some of the Hollywood and independent studios whose content is available on ReelTime’s Australian site - such as NBC Universal. More studios will be added over the coming months as New Zealand rights are finalised.

"We've had a great deal of interest from across the Tasman to provide New Zealanders with movie and TV content for DTO and DTR," said John Karantzis, ReelTime.tv Managing Director.

The announcement comes as Sony buys a $1 million share of ReelTime.tv, after ReelTime.tv suspended trading its shares mid February to undertake a capital raising, having burned through most of the $4 million it raised in an IPO in April 2006.

ReelTime has also unveiled an Australian Home Entertainment Centre, which is set to bring movie downloads into the living room direct to the TV. The units will be available this month from the ReelTime.tv website and ReelTime.tv is also expecting to conclude retail agreements before the middle of the year.{moscomment}
