Despite a denial earlier in the month it seems Sony has had a change of heart on PlayStation Portable pricing outside of the US.  Today they announce a drop of 30 Euros to €169.99  (AU$276)

At the beginning of this month, Sony dropped the PSP price point by a massive US$30 for our North American gaming buddies, but there was to be no immediate joy for European and the other territories where the PSP is marketed.

Sony have announced the new lower price of  €169.99 will be applicable in all Sony Computer Entertainment Europe territories as of the end of April, with all territories receiving a similar price drop by the end of May.

In addition Sony have announced a range of PSP platinum titles at €19.99 (AU$32.55);

Ridge Racer 2, Tekken, Killzone, Loco Roco and Moto GP all benefit from the new Platinum branded lease on life

“The combined effect of the two price reductions will unleash PSP, making it a ‘must have’ portable system for all entertainment enthusiasts, and allowing them to enjoy the breadth and depth of entertainment opportunities available from PSP,” explained Stephane Hareau, PSP Marketing Manager SCEE. “PSP is unique and is constantly evolving. It offers the widest palette of mobile entertainment, from gaming to video, music, photos and internet – and now the unique possibility to connect to PLAYSTATION®3 remotely. With this new price point, and the launch of five new Platinum titles, PSP is more than ever, the handheld entertainment system of choice for the discerning gamer”.

Still no joy for those of us looking for an early price cut to the PlayStation 3 however{moscomment}
