Namco Bandai has confirmed that Beautiful Katamari Damacy will arrive on Xbox 360 and PS3 this year.  Why no Wii?

Originally a cult hit on the PS2 Katamari Damacy was one of those unique games with the strange, simple yet addictive game play involving rolling around the game screen collecting ever larger objects to add to your “ball”.  Eventually you will be sucking up cars, buildings and more in your snowballing endeavors.

This time around PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 gamers will be presented with more rolling fun on gigantic maps (some screen shots seem to span 10,000 kilometres!). All in 720P glory.

Look for this engrossing game later in the year.

But why no talk of a Wii version?  There has been some hint that Beautiful Katamari Damacy may make its way to the Nintendo DS, not confirmed.
But the Wii with its motion sensing controller seems like the ideal way to get things rolling.  Like Kororinpa, direct control of our “save the cosmos” snowball would indeed be a hoot.

The official Japanese site has just arrived, why not fire up your browsers Japanese character set and head on over.{moscomment}
