Version 2.4 of Elgato's popular EyeTV television tuner software for Mac OS X provides easy export to Apple TV. Any existing recording can be exported just by clicking a toolbar button, and scheduled recordings can be automatically exported when they complete. The resulting files go into iTunes, ready for streaming or syncing to the Apple TV. Also new is Spotlight integration (allowing any part of a recording's name or description to be found via Mac OS X's search feature) and the display of more detailed program information from the tvtv EPG. US users may also benefit from set top box support for certain cable and satellite providers, along with support for certain infra-red channel-changing controllers. Other, less significant changes include the ability to specify which monitor is to be used for full-screen display in a multiple-monitor setup, the availability of a full-screen style menu within a window (allowing the more convenient use of an Apple Remote when full-screen mode is undesirable), and a red dot in the EyeTV Dock icon to indicate that a recording is in progress. A number of bugs and other issues have been resolved. EyeTV 2.4 is a free update. It requires a 500MHz or faster G4, or any G5 or Intel Core CPU, plus Mac OS X 10.4 or later (10.4.9 recommended).{moscomment} |
