The addition of ContentExchange to Salesforce.com's software-as-a-service offering puts another arrow in the company's quiver.

The software comes from Koral, which Salesforce.com acquired last month. It uses concepts such as tagging and user ratings - familiar to many people from sites such as YouTube and del.icio.us - to organise, share and retrieve unstructured documents.

Apart from its simplicity, a significant advantage of ContentExchange is that it is integrated with Salesforce.com's flagship CRM system, allowing documents to be associated with accounts, leads or opportunities.

Koral previously offered its software through Salesforce.com's AppExchange marketplace. The Koral content management technology will be made available  as Apex Content to other developers creating software for AppExchange.{moscomment}
