Xbox ad banned in Britain E-mail

An Xbox 360 TV ad has been banned by Britain's Advertising Standards Authority.

The ad, originally restricted to being shown after 9pm, showed a car chase through busy city streets.

"We concluded that the ad glamourised street car racing and could be seen to condone dangerous driving," said an ASA spokesperson.

Microsoft UK and its advertising agency argued that the ad included 'don't try this at home' style warnings, and that the vehicles shown did not exceed speed limits, but the ASA banned the ad for breaching health and safety and driving standards rules.

Like the Xbox 360 poster campaign currently running in Australia, the ad did not depict a specific game.{moscomment}
